To finish out the summer season at Pocket Community Theatre in Hot Springs, the younger members took audiences on a magical, monster-slaying quest with She Kills Monsters: Young Adventurers Edition. Performed the first weekend in September, the show transported audiences from the small-town stage into a realm where imagination ruled, swords gleamed, and friendships were forged in the fires of battle. With colorful backdrops and the kind of youthful energy that can only come from a cast of passionate performers, this production was like stepping straight into a Dungeons & Dragons campaign brought to theatrical life. 

‘I’m a believer’… that the Pocket Community Theatre’s cast of Shrek The Musical truly brought a fairytale to life in Hot Springs. Running from August 1 through August 10, this production was a spellbinding mix of humor and boundless talent. From the very first note, the stage became a kingdom where ogres, donkeys, and enchanted creatures roamed freely, and I couldn’t help falling in love with every moment. The colorful costumes, clever set design, and lively choreography made this show a “swamp-tacular” delight, enchanting both young and old alike.

Laughter echoed through The Pocket Community Theatre in Hot Springs this weekend as Neil Simon’s Barefoot in the Park took center stage, bringing with it the warm, nostalgic charm of a classic American sitcom. Under the direction of Kevin Day, this production, which runs through Sunday, June 15, played like a delightful episode from the golden age of television: sharp, character-driven, and laugh-out-loud funny.

I had my first introduction to the Tuna series at The Pocket Community Theatre in Hot Springs last weekend, and I couldn’t have asked for a better welcome into this wildly funny, fast-paced world. With performances from May 16th to the 25th, GREATER TUNA by Jaston Williams, Ed Howard, and Joe Sears was a whirlwind tour through the quirks and contradictions of small-town Texas life, delivered with heart, hilarity, and a whole lot of quick costume changes.

Conceived for the stage by Steve Cuden & Frank Wildhorn, with Book and Lyrics by Leslie Bricusse, Music by Frank Wildhorn, Orchestrations by Kim Scharnberg, Arrangements by Jason Howland, and Directed by Christi Day, the production is everything you’d hope for—gripping, intense, and dripping with gothic atmosphere. It was amazing!

Step into the shadows of the human soul as Jekyll and Hyde takes the stage at the Pocket Community Theatre in Hot Springs.

“Jekyll and Hyde: The Musical” will mark the third musical this season for The Pocket Community Theatre, which is their largest number of musicals per season yet. This performance will feature a pop rock score enhanced by lighting effects that will transform the stage. Jekyll and Hyde was first performed on Broadway in 1997, and now you can see it at The Pocket Community Theatre from April 4-13!

e of the best quartets I have heard in awhile can be found at The Pocket Community Theatre in Hot Springs in WINTER WONDERETTES who finish out their run Sunday, Dec. 15. Their harmonies are tight, their energy is infectious, and their delivery of classic holiday tunes is nothing short of magical. Written by Roger Bean and Directed by Amber Moss, these ladies put on a show that will put you in the holiday spirit.  

WINTER WONDERETTES follows Missy (Cathleen Criss), Betty Jean (Neelah Agus), Suzy (Brittany Cranton), and Cindy Lou (Allie Anderson) as they unite to perform at Harper’s Hardware’s holiday party. Full of festive songs and witty banter, the show highlights the ups and downs of their friendship while delivering plenty of laughs and heartfelt moments.
