WATCH The Pocket as they prepare for upcoming production of ‘Jekyll and Hyde: The Musical’

Step into the shadows of the human soul as Jekyll and Hyde takes the stage at the Pocket Community Theatre in Hot Springs.

“Jekyll and Hyde: The Musical” will mark the third musical this season for The Pocket Community Theatre, which is their largest number of musicals per season yet. This performance will feature a pop rock score enhanced by lighting effects that will transform the stage. Jekyll and Hyde was first performed on Broadway in 1997, and now you can see it at The Pocket Community Theatre from April 4-13!

Attention all you magical beings!! Get out your wizard wands and head to The Pocket Community Theatre in Hot Springs this weekend Friday-Sunday, Feb. 7-9, for the final performances of PUFFS. This hilarious play, written by Matt cox and directed by Bonnie Maisen and Bekah Wilson, offers a fresh and comedic take on the story of the underdog house at a certain famous wizarding school. Whether you’re a devoted fan or just looking for a night of laughter and magic, PUFFS is sure to cast a spell on you!

e of the best quartets I have heard in awhile can be found at The Pocket Community Theatre in Hot Springs in WINTER WONDERETTES who finish out their run Sunday, Dec. 15. Their harmonies are tight, their energy is infectious, and their delivery of classic holiday tunes is nothing short of magical. Written by Roger Bean and Directed by Amber Moss, these ladies put on a show that will put you in the holiday spirit.  

WINTER WONDERETTES follows Missy (Cathleen Criss), Betty Jean (Neelah Agus), Suzy (Brittany Cranton), and Cindy Lou (Allie Anderson) as they unite to perform at Harper’s Hardware’s holiday party. Full of festive songs and witty banter, the show highlights the ups and downs of their friendship while delivering plenty of laughs and heartfelt moments.

The Pocket Community Theatre’s final production of 2024 takes place this weekend with performances of “The Winter Wonderettes.” See this holiday musical Friday or Saturday at 7 p.m., or check out one of the matinee showings Saturday or Sunday at 2 p.m.  Written by Roger Bean, “The Winter Wonderettes” is set in the 1960s and follows four young women hired to sing at a hardware company Christmas party.

Welcome to October! To open up the holiday season of shows, BroadwayWorld headed to my favorite Arkansas town, Hot Springs, where we joined our friends at The Pocket Community Theatre to see NIGHTFALL WITH Edgar Allan Poe by Eric Coble and Directed by David Fleming and Jodi Tooke, who was styling in a Raven-esque gown for opening night. The production, which runs through Sunday, Oct. 13, is spooky, intoxicating, and keeps you leaning in for what was to come. This is a literary lover’s production, and even if you aren’t familiar with Poe, this is the gothic dream you didn’t know you were craving.  CLICK HERE FOR FULL REVIEW

Finishing the summer strong to a sold-out run, The Pocket Community Theatre, 170 Ravine St., in Hot Springs, has one more weekend, Aug. 9-11, for DISNEY AND Cameron Mackintosh’S MARY POPPINS THE BROADWAY MUSICAL. I’d say they should add another weekend, but alas, it’s time to go back to school. So, if you didn’t get your tickets early, you are missing out on something special. I love this theatre!

The Pocket Community Theatre presented a teaser performance of their upcoming production “Mary Poppins” on July 2 at the Garland County Library.

The community troupe regularly puts on such performances. “We’re very open to going to other groups and kind of showing them a little taste of what we have in store,” said producer Jodi Tooke, who also sits on the Pocket Community Theatre’s board as treasurer.
