On Saturday, November 30, 2002, volunteers from the Pocket Theatre joined volunteers from some
of the other non-profit organizations in the Hot Springs area to put on ArtBlast 2002! The
purpose of ArtBlast is to expose kids to the arts in a fun and entertaining way, hopefully
building a love for the arts the children will carry into future life. It was a little hectic
with the hundreds of kids that participated in this years ArtBlast, but we had a lot of fun!
From The Sentinel-Record:
The ArtBlast 2002 children's art festival will be held at the Hot Springs Civic & Convention Center
from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30. Nine local nonprofit art organization will pool resources
to provide a variety of visual and performing art activities for children over this Thanksgiving
Day weekend. ArtBlast 2002 begins at 10 a.m. with a treasure hunt, let by the Arts cooperative Team.
Kids can pick up their treasure hunt map at the civic center and begin the trek through all the
festivities.
Presented in a casual, festive atmosphere, ArtBlast 2002 will offer a welcome break from the
traditional holiday shopping frenzy. Young people ages 4 to 18, and their families, will find
adventure and fun during the family oriented afternoon," a press release states.

help young designers paint faces, spray hair and make Styrofoam props.
